Tired of riding with your parents? Let's fix that. Getting your license isn't just about checking off a requirement and sitting in a boring class — it's your chance for independence. No more changing your plans around your parents' schedules or waiting on them. Getting your license gives you more control over your time, your weekends, and hanging with your friends. Say good-bye to listening to your parents' 80s music and hello to your own playlist.
Whether you're learning to drive for the first time or just ready to stop relying on public transportation, our adult driving course is built for you. We offer low-stress, patient instruction tailored to your pace — so you can gain total confidence, pass your road test, and take complete control of your commute, errands, and weekend plans. This program is focused on new drivers 18 and older, and is ready for Washington's 2027 training requirement for drivers under 22.
Learning as an adult can feel intimidating. The pressure, awkwardness, and anxiety can be overwhelming when riding with others. We offer one-on-one sessions with a professional instructor who specializes in working with mature beginners to get you ready for the road.
Want more time behind the wheel before your road test? Additional teen drives are one-on-one sessions with a certified instructor, on top of the six drives included in the Teen Driving course.
Skip the DOL line — take your written and driving exams by appointment at North West Driving Academy.
We offer the official Washington State knowledge test. All tests are done by appointment. The knowledge test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions about traffic safety laws; you must answer at least 32 correctly to pass. To take the written exam you must have a Washington ID or driver's license number — pre-apply online to create your Washington ID or driver license number, then bring that number with you when you come to take the written exam.
We offer the driving test to help evaluate your ability to drive legally and safely. Applicants must pass with a score of 80 or better out of 100 possible points. For more information on what applicants are evaluated on, please visit the Washington DOL driving test page.
